The Art of Setting Boundaries for Better Mental Health
Boundaries are not walls. They are guidelines for how others can treat you and how you will spend your limited time and energy. Learning to set boundaries is one of the most important skills for protecting your mental health. Start by identifying where you feel resentful. Resentment is often a sign that a boundary needs to be set. Communicate boundaries clearly and kindly without excessive justification. I cannot take on that project right now is complete. You do not need to explain why. Expect pushback, especially from people who benefited from your lack of boundaries. The discomfort of enforcing a boundary is temporary. The relief of protecting your time and energy is lasting.
